Network charge for the electricity network

Network charge for the electricity network

The network charge for the electricity network is determined by the Energy Agency in accordance with the Legal Act on the methodology for determining the regulatory framework and network charges for the electricity system operators.

The methodology for calculating the network charge determines the procedures and elements that set out the way network charges are charged to electricity network operators and determines the classification of customers into different tariff groups.

The methodology for establishing the regulatory framework determines the basis for economic regulation of services of general economic interest of electricity operators and also determines the eligible costs for electricity networks for each regulatory period.

Network charge tariffs

The tariffs for the network charge are determined for:

  1. Network charge for the transmission system
  2. Network charge for the distribution system
  3. Network charge for the connected load
  4. Network charge for excessive reactive power

Network charge tariffs are determined on the basis of taking into account the eligible costs of the electricity system operators and planned quantitative electricity consumption over the regulatory period. The Energy Agency determines the regulatory framework for the electricity operators and the tariffs by issuing a decision. The electricity operator is obliged to publish the network charge tariffs on its website.

Network charges for the transmission system, distribution system and connected load are intended to cover the costs of electricity operators relating to the maintenance, operation and development of the system. The network charge for the transmission system is also intended to cover the costs of ancillary services. Within the network charge for the distribution system is also possible the calculation based on the critical peak tariff.

The network charge for excessive reactive power is intended to cover the costs of the electricity system operator to ensure voltage conditions in the network, while at the same time encouraging users to reduce the consumption of reactive power.
